Ham and Avocado Wrap

Does anyone else forget that wraps exist, but become obsessed once you have one? I love making sandwiches as quick on-the-go lunches on busy days, but they can get tiring if they are a major part of your routine. You can always switch up your sandwiches and turn them into a delicious wrap!

These Ham and Avocado Wraps are one of my favorite wraps to make because they are super simple, quick to make, and are full of flavor and nutrients! You’ve got your protein, healthy fats, fiber-rich carbs, essential vitamins… and all you need is 10 minutes!

Feel free to read the recipe below for some helpful tips and also some tricks for meal prepping!

Time needed:

  • 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 large tortilla

  • 3-4 slices of ham (or your favorite deli meat)

  • Your favorite cheese - use as much as your heart desires! (I used shredded mozzarella)

  • Handful of spinach

  • ½ avocado

  • 1 tbsp ranch dressing

This recipe makes:

  • 1 wrap (1 serving)

Let’s get cookin’!

  1. Warm the tortilla! Do your tortillas crumble and crack when you try to roll them? This is a trick that I learned a while back that makes using tortillas SO much easier. You can either warm your tortilla for about 10 seconds in the microwave, or let it toast in a toaster oven for just a couple minutes; you don’t want it to be crispy, just warm! This will prevent the tortilla from cracking, ripping, or crumbling as you roll it.

  2. Assemble! Now, time to assemble your wrap. The order doesn’t matter too much, unless you are planning on meal prepping or eating later in the day (then check out the tips below!). Spread on your avocado, then layer on your deli meat, cheese, spinach, and ranch dressing.

  3. Roll it up! Wrap up the tortilla and all of your ingredients and pair it with your favorite side: chips, fries, salad, fruit, whatever your heart desires. It is that simple! Enjoy :)

Meal Prep Tips

  • Avocado: The avocado is my favorite part of this wrap, but unfortunately it does not fare well when you want to prep this for a future meal. Your avocado could turn brown and lose some flavor. If you are planning on eating the wrap later that day and can keep it in the fridge, you should be fine! You can even squeeze a tiny bit of lemon onto the avocado to keep it fresh. However, anything past a day, I would keep the avocado separate and include it later on. You can the 1/2 of the avocado a plastic bag and squeeze a couple drops of lemon into the bag, then keep it in the fridge for as long as you can. Then, spread on the avocado right before eating!

  • Assembly: A little tip when meal prepping any wrap or sandwich; always keep the wetter ingredients away from the tortilla/bread! This ensures that the tortilla/bread won’t get soggy. I would assemble it with a bit of spinach touching the tortilla, then the cheese, then ham, then your dressing, and finally the rest of the spinach. The spinach will act as a buffer and keep your tortilla intact! Then add your avocado before eating, or you can include it at the same time as the dressing.

  • Paper towel trick: Anytime you are worried about a food getting soggy, wrap it in a paper towel! It will absorb the moisture and keep your tortilla nice and soft.
