Apple Harvest Chocolate Bark

This Apple Harvest Chocolate Bark is an amazing twist to your everyday bark. If you have leftover apples or are craving something sweet and salty, try this out! And yes, it tastes EVEN BETTER than it looks.

Who would have thought that you could have bitter, sweet, crunchy, salty, and sour all in one bite… and have it taste good? It is perfect for fall, or really any time of year. Throw this together at your next gathering and watch it disappear. Enjoy!

Time needed:

  • Prep time: 15-20 minutes

  • Fridge time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups melting chocolate (dark or milk)

  • 1 apple (the crunchier the better)

  • 1/4 lemon (optional)

  • 2 tbsp nut butter

  • 1 cup pretzels

Let’s get cookin’!

  1. Melt your chocolate. Choose your favorite type of chocolate (I prefer dark) and melt it either in the microwave or on the stovetop over boiling water. Melting on the stove gives you a smoother consistency to spread, but the microwave works if you want a quicker fix! While the chocolate is melting, move onto the next step.

  2. Cut and soak apples. While your chocolate is melting, slice your apple into thin slices and place into a small bowl. If you are serving this later on or want to keep your bark looking fresh, squeeze the juice from a 1/4 of a lemon and mix to prevent the apples from browning too quickly. This does add a bit of sourness, but I think it works well with the rest of the flavors.

  3. Melt nut butter. This may sound strange, but yes, you can melt nut butter! You can do so in the microwave or on the stove, just like the chocolate. This will create a thinner consistency that will be easier to use.

  4. Assemble! Right after your chocolate is completely melted, pour it onto a baking sheet with a piece of parchment paper over it (easy cleanup)! Use a spoon or spatula to spread the chocolate into a rectangle of your desired thickness. Before the chocolate hardens, place your apple slices into the chocolate. Then, drizzle your nut butter on top and crumble on your pretzels.

  5. Into the fridge. To let it harden faster, pop your bark into the fridge for just a few minutes (15 minutes should be more than enough). Check and cool longer if needed.

  6. Enjoy! Take it out of the fridge and break up your bark with a knife into pieces. It can be stored in the fridge until you are ready to serve, or just eat it right away! Enjoy your sweet and salty creation! :)
